Picot Stitch

The picot creates a tiny decorative nub — perfect for edging.

Steps (common 3-ch picot)

  1. Ch 3 (or the number your pattern calls for).
  2. Slip stitch into the first chain made to form a small loop.
  3. Continue with the next stitch on your edging.
Variations: 2-ch picot (tight nub), 4–5 ch picot (taller nub). Some patterns sl st into the base stitch instead of the first chain.
