Project: Classic Granny Square

A timeless square you can turn into blankets, bags, or tops. Practice joined rounds, dc clusters, and color changes.

Suggested yarn & hook: Medium (4) acrylic, 5.0 mm (H-8) hook.

Abbreviations

ch — chain
sl st — slip stitch
dc — double crochet
cl — dc cluster

Round-by-round

MR, ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in ring, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 2) × 3. Join with sl st to top of ch-3. (4 clusters)
Sl st to corner sp, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in corner, *ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next corner* × 3, ch 1; join.
Repeat round 2, working (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in each corner and (3 dc) in each ch-1 space between corners.
